Hypnosis ...
Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep. Hypnosis is a very natural and relaxing experience. Hypnosis is simply an altered state of awareness which is brought about firstly by physical relaxation, followed by mental relaxation. In fact, when hypnotised, you are relaxed and focused and if you wished to do so, you could open your eyes at any time, but usually you would feel so relaxed and comfortable you would chose not to. You choose to give your attention to the hypnotherapist and you can withdraw it at any time.
Under hypnosis you are more responsive to the positive suggestions given to you by your hypnotherapist as you are accessing the subconscious part of the mind. The subconscious part of our minds doesn't have the ability to discriminate and that makes it much more open to positive suggestions which the conscious mind may reject.
You are always in control and by using hypnosis for birthing it helps aid relaxation. The more relaxed you are, the more you can work in harmony with your body and eliminate the Fear-Tension-Pain syndrome.
